Back to relaxation.

I've recently noticed a gradual shift happening in the world of therapists.

In recent years, there has been a very strong movement to gain a deeper understanding of the human body.

Evaluate the body.
Assess the condition.
Let's consider the cause.
Then, we create a treatment plan tailored to each individual's needs.

Learn about the body, expand your knowledge, and deepen your skills.

I believe that is very important for growth as a therapist.

In fact, I myself have been doing this job for 23 years,
I've come to realize the importance of learning about my own body.

However, recently,

I feel that the number of therapists who are beginning to realize what lies beyond that is gradually increasing.

⸻

The early days of my career as a therapist.

I'm sure many people

"I want this person to feel better."

"I want to make you feel even a little bit more comfortable."

"I want to create a time when they can feel safe and secure."

"I just want to touch you."

Perhaps that's why you started this job.

I didn't want to cure anything.

I didn't want to change my body.

However, if that person could just relax for that moment,
I wanted to create some time to be myself again.

But the more experience you gain,

"Isn't that not enough?"

I've come to think that way.

I need to understand my own body better.

I need to be able to produce better results.

I need to become a therapist who can be more helpful to people.

That's how you deepen your learning.

I think this is very natural.

⸻

And when you have learned up to a certain point,

Now, a question like this may arise from the opposite side.

"Is it really necessary to try to change people?"

Look at the body,
Find the problem,
That's where we'll make our move.

Is that the only way to make people feel better?

Perhaps,

People don't relax because someone does something for them,

Perhaps we tend to relax when we feel safe.

I started to realize that.

⸻

I believe that relaxation will return to this place once again in the future.

however,

This isn't about going back to the old-fashioned "simply relaxing to feel good."

Learn about the body,
Learn the technology,
Touching many people,
Because I have had so many experiences,

Realizing the profoundness of "simply touching."

That's the kind of relaxation it is.

Instead of adding something,
Let go of unnecessary things.

They don't try to fix it.

They don't try to change.

Don't overestimate it.

The goal is simply to create a time when that person can feel safe and secure entrusting themselves to you.

And in that state of security, the body's inherent power begins to work.

⸻

Relaxation is
It doesn't mean "doing nothing."

Rather,

Let go of the part of yourself that tries to do something.
To accept that person completely.

There is technology involved.

There is a way to use your body.

There is a way to touch.

And then there's the state of the person doing the touching.

I have been teaching Swedish massage for 23 years.
I've come back to that place once again.

There is still much more to discover about relaxation.

And from now on,

Not just "what can be done",

"Under what conditions will you touch that person?"

I think that will become increasingly important.
