You don't need to force yourself to release tension in your body.
If your body is always tense,
"I need to relax more."
"I need to make my body more flexible."
"It's better to stretch and lengthen it."
You might think so.
But when I saw the body tense,
I don't think, "It's stiff, so let's loosen it."
Because that tension has a physical reason specific to that person.
The body doesn't tense up without a reason.
When you feel you are in danger.
When I had to work hard.
When you couldn't let your guard down.
To protect that person,
My body responded properly.
Therefore, the longer someone has been under stress,
Even if you are told to "relax,"
It can be difficult to remove.
Rather,
I feel restless when I lie down.
I'm not good at leaning my body on others.
I can't relax no matter how hard I try.
Things like that happen.
That doesn't mean you're unwell.
For the body,
Perhaps, for a longer period of time, "holding in tension" provided more comfort than "relaxing"...
Therefore, I have a stiff body,
I believe it's important not to let nervousness become your enemy.
"Why is it so hard?"
Instead,
"What has this body been protecting all this time?"
That's how I look at the body.
And instead of trying to loosen it by force,
The fact that your back is supported by the bed.
Breathing should come in and out naturally.
First,
Gradually teach your body the feeling that "it's okay to entrust your body to someone."
When your body feels safe and secure, it will change on its own.
Therefore, therapists don't need to try too hard to "relax" the patient.
Press, stretch, move,
Before trying to change your body,
The goal is to create a space and touch that makes the person feel, "It's okay to relax here."
I think that's very important.
A tense body,
That's not wrong.
This is the body that has protected that person up until now.
That's why,
You don't have to start by trying to eliminate your anxiety.
If the amount of time you can feel at ease increases,
Power that is no longer needed,
I'm letting go of things little by little, starting with my body.
Your body knows exactly when it's okay to relax.
