Being skilled at a technique and finding pleasure in that technique are not the same thing.
People who are technically skilled and people who find technically enjoyable are not necessarily the same.
I've been teaching massage for 23 years and have seen many therapists.
Some of them still have room for improvement technically.
You can further refine how you use your body and hone your techniques.
However, customers
"It feels incredibly good."
"Why does it feel so good when this person touches me?"
There are people who are highly praised for this.
On the other hand, there are some people who are technically very skilled, but don't get repeat customers or don't leave a particularly "satisfying" experience.
What could be the reason for this difference?
I believe that a person's "way of being" plays a significant role in that.
What kind of therapist do I want to be?
What do you value most when you interact with the person in front of you?
Even if a person's skills are still developing, their core values and approach will inevitably be conveyed through their hands.
Therefore, the body feels at ease.
That's why it feels good.
But I don't think that "just being a certain way is enough."
This is the important part.
The way of being is the foundation, and then refined techniques are combined with it.
When these two elements come together, the therapist transforms from someone who is "skilled" to someone whom clients "want to be touched by."
The therapists who are absolutely chosen by clients are not just those who excel in knowledge and skills.
A person who has their own core values, whose core values are reflected in their touch, and who possesses solid technical skills.
I believe that therapists like that are the ones who will continue to be chosen by clients for a long time.
Therefore, I don't just want to teach technical skills.
Just as important as honing your skills,
"What kind of therapist do I want to be?"
I want you to cherish it.
When a person's way of being is embodied in their hands, and refined technique is added to that,
Instead of saying "You're good at it,"
"I want you to touch me."
I believe that becoming a therapist who can earn such praise is what I want.
