The more you try to "teach" customers, the more they close themselves off.

In fluid dynamics, which is also applied in Swedish EAO, there is a law called "pressure gradient."
The law of motion states that liquids and gases flow from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure.

In fact, this principle holds clues that can dramatically improve not only treatment techniques, but also the quality of customer service and counseling .

When you try to "teach" a client, they close themselves off . When a therapist tries too hard to "give advice" or "cure" a client, the therapist becomes "high-pressure."

As a result, customers unconsciously trigger a defensive reaction and close themselves off.
When high pressure and high pressure collide, a repulsion occurs.

Three habits to reduce this "pressure"
So, what exactly does it mean to reduce this pressure?

The three things I am conscious of are the following:

① Let go of the intention to "teach" or "cure" for a moment .
If you are preparing in your mind during treatment, thinking "I'll say this next" or "I'll give that advice for this symptom," your inside becomes "filled with something." This is high pressure.

Put aside your preparations and intentions for a moment, and create space within yourself to receive the customer's words as they are.

② Don't be afraid of silence .
When there's a lull in conversation, you naturally want to fill the silence by saying something, right?
But those "filler words" are actually creating high pressure.

Even if silence falls, don't panic; wait until the customer finds their next words.

③ Listen without judging. If you listen while mentally evaluating things like, "That's because of XX," or "In that case, you should do YY," your internal world will be filled with your own judgment.

Put aside any evaluation or judgment for the moment and simply accept it with a "I see."

Then, the customer's true feelings start to come out.

As the inside of this space becomes nearly empty, the worries and true feelings that have been accumulating within the customer naturally begin to flow out, like a stream from a higher place to a lower place.

When someone says, "Actually...", that's a sign that a pressure gradient has begun to take effect.

By pulling, you attract.

By pulling back (reducing pressure/creating space), you can attract the other party (let them flow in).
This is the pressure gradient of the mind.

During tomorrow's counseling session, the moment you feel like giving advice, take a deep breath and instead ask, "What is the one thing you want to resolve the most?"

Once you experience the feeling of creating space within yourself, the way conversations flow afterward will surely change.
