The fact is, many oil therapists have never experienced "true intimacy."
Many people who struggle with "not being able to make close contact with their hands" mistakenly believe that achieving close contact is a matter of "palm technique."
However, no matter how much you focus on your hands, you can't actually create true intimacy.
Because the essence of close contact isn't about the shape or technique of the hands, but rather "how much of the therapist's weight they can entrust to the client."
There are two main reasons why many people cannot maintain close contact.
1. Too much oil : Using too much oil as a lubricant (something that makes things slide) will only cause it to slide on the surface of the skin, making it physically impossible to make contact (adhere) to deeper tissues.
2. Trying to "press" and supporting your own body is the main cause.
In an attempt to "make close contact" and "deliver pressure," the therapist's body unconsciously becomes tense.
Being tense means that you are "supporting" your own body weight with your legs and core.
In this case, the weight on the hand touching the other person's skin becomes simply the "pushing force of the arm."
"Pushing" and "surrendering" are completely opposite.
Let go of any unnecessary tension and completely entrust (surrender) your body weight to the other person.
Only when the therapist's body is completely relaxed and surrendered to the client does the gap between their hands and skin disappear, creating a true, almost clinging, "close contact."
Reducing the amount of oil to the absolute minimum is merely a prerequisite for directly conveying this "entrusted weight."
Before any technique lies the therapist's own "way of using their body" and "way of being."
When this changes, the sense of security the recipient feels the moment they are touched changes dramatically.
In today's lesson, the students who grasped this feeling completely transformed their touch, adopting a professional-like expression.
