What the anxiety of not having customers is showing us

I was talking to one of my students the other day.

That person is a therapist who runs her own salon.

"No customers are coming."

"What if sales don't increase at all?"

I was constantly overwhelmed by that anxiety.

I told that person the following:

"Everything that happens before your eyes is something you are causing yourself," he said.

This is a way of thinking that I've recently come to deeply agree with.
This is something that is written in a book called "The Laws of Nature" by a man named Kengo, and it is also something that I myself have gradually come to feel in my own life over the past few years.

The phenomenon of "customers not coming."

We tend to think this way.
"Maybe our methods for attracting customers are flawed."
"Maybe my skills aren't good enough."
"Maybe I'm not posting enough on social media."

Of course, there may be areas for technical improvement.
But before that, there's something I'd like you to take a look at.

That is—"anxiety" and "peace of mind" are two sides of the same coin.

We tend to demonize anxiety.
"I wish this anxiety would just disappear."
"I wish I could be more positive and feel more at ease."

But anxiety and reassurance are inherently linked.
Like the two sides of a coin, it's impossible for only one side to exist.

Anxiety is what leads to peace of mind.
Because there is security, there is also anxiety.

Trying to eliminate anxiety actually means trying to eliminate the very feeling of security itself.

That might sound a little strange to you.
"So, I have to live with this anxiety forever?"

That's not the case.

There is only one thing to do.

Don't demonize anxiety.
It's important to truly feel and understand.

When you feel anxious and think, "Customers aren't coming, what should I do?", instead of fighting against it as something that "shouldn't be happening",
"Ah, I'm feeling anxious right now," I simply realize.

Without evaluation, without denial, without adding anything on top of it, just leave it there.

And strangely enough, the anxiety has served its purpose and quietly flows away.

That is definitely true.

And then, as the anxiety washes over you, the sense of security that was always there naturally rises up.

Conversely, if you demonize anxiety and keep fighting it, it won't disappear; instead, it will just come back in a different form, again and again.

Problems with attracting customers, problems with money, problems with interpersonal relationships --

It's as if you're saying, "Hey, I don't feel anything yet."

When I told this story, the student had tears welling up in their eyes. I don't think it was because they understood something.

Perhaps they touched upon the words that were deep within their heart, the words they had always wanted to hear.

"It's not that you're a bad person for being anxious."
"Anxiety isn't the bad guy."
"I'll really feel it for you."

—That kind of language.

I'm not denying the value of business techniques.
Communication and product design are, of course, important.

However, as long as the inner self that lies before all of that continues to battle anxiety, no matter what you do, you will only get painful results.

There are people who are battling anxiety and people who are simply feeling anxious.
These two people, even though they sell the same products or technologies, emit completely different frequencies.

Customers may seem to be buying a product, but they are actually receiving the "way of being" of the person who made it.

Therefore, as long as the internal conflict continues, the external phenomena will also continue to reflect that conflict.

If you are currently struggling with the anxiety of "not having customers," please don't make that anxiety out to be a bad thing.

Anxiety is something you feel, not something you eliminate.
Anxiety and peace of mind are two sides of the same coin; you cannot choose only one.

Only to those who truly acknowledge and accept their anxieties will the underlying sense of security finally reveal itself.

Instead of trying to change the phenomenon, simply acknowledge and feel the anxiety that the phenomenon has brought about.

If you proceed in that order, the business will probably become much lighter.
