The reason why the emotional impact was different even though the technology hadn't changed.
I was talking to a student today,
There was a story that left a very strong impression on me.
Previously, there was a therapist who gave me a treatment that was so incredibly good it was truly moving.
He apparently thought, "This is amazing!"
After some time had passed,
She apparently went back to receive treatment from that person, looking forward to it.
That person remains as dedicated to their research as ever.
We strive to improve our skills every day.
And yet—
"I've never felt such emotion before."
Those words just slipped out of my mouth.
After hearing this story,
I didn't think, "Has the technology declined?"
Rather,
It is precisely because that person has diligently built upon their efforts.
I felt that aspects other than technology had come to the forefront, albeit slightly.
Feeling good or being moved,
The strength of the pressure and the precision of the procedure,
It's not determined solely by the number of techniques you use.
What has a greater impact is,
What condition is the person in when they receive the treatment?
When you're tired,
When you're running out of time,
When you unconsciously tense up because you feel like you "have to do it properly."
Even if the technology is correct,
The way we touch each other feels somewhat closed off.
Unable to fully support my weight,
Breathing becomes shallow,
There's no more space left in my hands.
The recipient doesn't perceive it as "bad."
just,
"Huh? It's a little different from before."
I perceive it as an inexpressible sense of unease.
Here,
I'd like to ask the students a question.
If recently,
"Even though I'm doing everything right, I don't feel like I'm seeing any results."
"I'm not getting the same kind of response as before."
If you had that kind of feeling...
it is,
It might not be a sign of a lack of skill.
Perhaps,
It's not that the way you touched me was wrong,
It's not that they lack talent.
Just a little,
It might just be that the margins have disappeared .
The meaning behind the phrase "I wasn't as moved as before" is,
It's not that the feeling of being moved has disappeared,
The way of touching,
I think it was just slightly closed.
No need to add any technology.
You don't need to learn any new techniques.
Once, remember how to breathe.
I shifted my weight back,
Let's go back to "the here and now."
That alone,
The feel in your hands,
The other person's reaction,
Sometimes things start to change quietly.
Just as important as honing your skills,
It's also important to be aware of your own state of mind.
Such a thing,
I realized this again from today's conversation.
